Aimee, the band lyre contraption has worked well for me on Vito clarinets.
I've not tried a Buffet B12. I am wondering if the F/C lever could be bent
slightly upward so as not to hit the lyre bracket when you press the lever to
close the key. (You would have a repairman do any key bending and not want to
attempt this yourself.) I am envisioning that the tolerance between the lever
and the tenon ring must be quite small on the B12.

But here's another "no cost" idea...

What if you tried the lyre setup on the bell tenon ring instead? I know this
might look strange and maybe it would not even work. The balance might be
wrong. The student would still use the thumb rest but the neck strap would
"help" to reduce the weight of the clarinet on the thumb. Just a thought...
