I have here on the bench a similar instrument. It is a Kohlert bass clarinet
made in Czechoslovakia and the serial number is 299872. It also has a second
register key on the neck with a bridge that is controlled by 3 separate
mechanisms, one as you described going down to the lower G key. The bridge
mechanism on this horn is missing and the upper register key is badly mangled,
with the bridge part missing. I have some Polaroid shots poor quality) of the
neck area and have not them scanned for Internet presentation. If this sounds
like the type of info you are looking for let me know and I will get some better
graphics done. Don't know which way to turn. My WEBcam quality is not that good
either. Am trying to make up my mind to try a camcorder and the Snappy
hardware/software or spring for a digital camera with floppy. Too many options.

This Kohler seems to be a fine instrument and the lower register sounds nice
with the upper register key hole taped shut. Fabrication of a replacement key is
a problem because I don't know what it is supposed to look like. I was hoping
someone on the net would have volunteered a picture for you by now. I would then
pounce upon it <grin>.
