My advice is to do what you darn well please. Regardless of whether you
feel your current instrument has flaws, your desire to be active in the
choice as opposed to passive in the choice of your next instrument, is
compelling grounds. After all, your current clarinet was a choice of one.

Additional Ramblings:
We teachers are often stuck when it comes to instrument choices. At a
certain point the plastic Yamaha becomes inadequate. The true measure of
an instrument is its ability to allow the student to attain a higher level.
I believe that the standard R13 enables students to be essentially
unlimited as far as potential is concerned.
You have probably been well served by your current Buffet. 5 years ;
you know what it is like. No one has the right to censure you on your
desire to try something else.
