A few of us, too, are keeping in practice during the summer months, with
a small ensemble. We are three to five clarinets, depending on one's
schedule that week. Most of our music is for clarinet trio and we're
lucky enough to have a bass clarinetist. Meanwhile, there's also the
summer band, a group of over 100 fine musicians. We have a rehearsal of
15 or so pieces on Tuesday and performance on Thursday. The program
changes weekly and is great for sightreading practice. The drawback is
playing outside in Phoenix in the summer. It's darned hot, even if it is
at 8pm! Boy, this music biz is NOT for wimps. : )
