Anna, I would DEFINITELY use an inexpensive plastic clarinet for that outdoor
concert. Clarinets don't usually sound good outside anyway, so why risk your
valuable wood clarinet? No one will notice the difference in sound. When you
play a wood clarinet outdoors in cold weather the inside of the bore is
warmed by your breath while the outside contracts due to the ambient cold
temperatures. These conditions, I think, would be a sure recipe for cracks in
your R13.
