I have been using the same Cordier for the last 18 years and have never
had a problem - and that includes 5 years of making reeds from blanks!
Still, I am interested in your view of the Vandoren clipper - is the shape
different than the Cordier? Have you ever had to change the blade?

Not the David you spoke of, but I'll add that the Cordier clippers do not
get dull ever! Gigliotti still uses his Dad's Cordier clipper. I don't like
the Vandoren clipper, as I did not like the way it cut. Even the Cordier
clippers do not cut well (evenly). Hard to find a good one. Wish someone
would invent a good clipper that has a symmetrical clip.
