Ken laid it on the line for the internet. I also say be very careful how
you answer classified ads. I sent a resume to an address in a classified
help wanted ad in a very reputable newspaper for a senior management
position and if I didn't need a job so bad would never do it again! It
was a front for sex related materials, solicitations, phone calls and so
on. I did report it to the newspaper who sincerely apologized and filed
charges. I don't know where it will go from here.
The big problem is, if I continue to answer blind ads, will this happen
again? Or how many opportunities could I miss by passing by the PO boxes
and street addresses with no company name. I reasearch every company I
can on the internet and make blind calls if I can to ascertain
legitimacy.
The point is - watch what information you give out EVERYWHERE! It would
be easy to prey on the innocent under the guise of music - it's been done
in a nearby community by an ersatz children's choir director.
Don't say "It won't happen to me."
