Here are two things that I do to eliminate noisy keys and loose travel on
some clarinets. For left-hand levers of the lower joint that insert into
holes in their respective keys, I wrap a smidgen of plumber's teflon tape
around the "knobs" on the ends of the levers before re-inserting them back
into their holes. Also, where I feel it is needed, I add cork "bumpers" under
these levers. These simple things make a huge difference, in my opinion, in
the playability of a clarinet. I like things snug.
