I find much of this list very funny and mostly highly informative. I've
had some interesting offline conversations with people from Klarinet, and I
even had lunch with one of them:-).

I'm sorry to see David Hattner go. He and I got into it some months ago,
but he is also one of the people on this list whose opinion I've since
learned bears respectful attention.

Flames, unfortunately, are part of what makes electronic communication
unique. I was a member of Opera-L for four years, and finally quit (easier
than quitting smoking but not by much) when the "Was Wagner An
Anti-Semite?" argument came around again for the four hundredth time, and
when the vituperation became just a bit much to take. I considered
suggesting that everyone prepare canned responses to these circular topics
and post them to save us time and energy, but I unsubbed instead. Music
brings out passions anyway; opera is even worse in that regard.

I hope Shadow Cat does not get too irate at the next comment, but compared
to Opera-L and rec.music.opera, Klarinet is full of pussycats:-). At least
I hope Shadow won't come over and do something anti-social in one of my
instrument cases....
