I also have an old Pruefer clarinet. It is all wood and is at least 55
years old. The instrument has the metal tenon cap at the top of the upper
joint (tending to indicate that it may have been an intermediate or better
grade instrument). This was is marked as being distributed by Carl Fischer.

It too has a longer than average barrel BUT the upper joint is slightly
shorter than average. The combined length is typical of my other
instruments. This particular instrument has excellent throat tones but is
overall noticeably sharp. However my daughter uses this for school and
since her embouchure isn't really developed yet and she is using somewhat
soft reeds, she ends up being fairly close to in tune.

The tone of this particular instrument blends very well with my Leblanc
Symphonie II.
