that I feel the need to respond.

Excuse me, but in this regard Marcellus was the fool, not the student. Why
should someone be forced to hide one's view for fear of being humiliated or
be prevented from learning the "other things". People, no matter how
exceptionally talented, should have the common sense and decency to accept
that others may hold other views and not use their superior position to
penalize those people. Marcellus is just one of several individuals whom I
lost total respect for as individuals (as opposed to musicians) during my
time as a student.

I also have no respect for politicos of any persuasion who treat people of
other believes with derision or consideration, or consider them enemies etc.
