I never stated or implied the above statement. You definately distorted my
comment to an extreme. When a performer contorts his body, face and
extremities too much, the music is no longer the focal point and the listener
becomes distracted. When a player doesn't move at all, that too becomes
distracting and ruins a concert. Something in the middle will suffice.

I'm well aware of Stolzman's humble, effacing demeanor that he portrays in
articles and interviews. Yes, the players you mentioned above blow Stolzman
away technically, but they do not compare with his showmanship,
expressiveness, and stage presence - with exception of Morales. So, maybe
this means the audience expects more than technique and a pretty sound when
attending a solo concert.

How many concerts have you attended where the entire time, your eyes were
closed?
Why not just listen to a recording? Concertgoing is nothing more than
entertainment. When I attend a concert, my sight and hearing, and sometimes
smell (don't ask!) are functioning as one sense. Without either one, the
experience would suffer.
