Hi Gary,

I presume your are referring to the BMG music service. They recently added
Hyperion Records to the list of labels they carry. The Hyperion recording
with these forces has actually been around for a long time and is, in fact,
an analog recording with a copyright date of 1986. It's been issued both on
LP and CD. There was a period of time when Thea King recorded alot of
important (IMHO) clarinet music by British composers for Hyperion. I expect
you will see some more of this group. (For me, her recording of concerti by
Jacob, Rawsthorne and Cooke is a "desert island" recording.) Most of these
recordings made it to compact disk and, in fact, some have entered a second
generation as "twofers." As I recall, some of the original disks are
included among American Record Guide's listing of (mostly English label) CD's
that were pressed on defective blanks and were inclined to deteriorate over
time. Not to worry about the BMG's though. They license the recordings an
do their own pressings.

Best regards,
Jack Kissinger
St. Louis
