Tony, I agree with this. And this ties into the last post of yours that
was of great interest to me. You wrote about supporting the sound with
diaphragm _and_ abdominal muscles. I meant to tell you (and the list)
how I thought about that and realized that I do what you described, but
have neglected to give my students that whole picture.

I had a few students that played very loudly and out of control. They
were "pushing the air", but not controling it. Now, with what I now
call "full support" they are gaing control, as well. And boy do they
sound better! BUT, Kevin, they were not all comfortable with this at
first, that is sure! :) As a teacher, much of what I tell them to do
is not what they _want_ to do! But what they want to do is not going to
make them a better player. (Yes, some students of mine stand, and they
all memorize a piece or two!!)
