That would be me. I do not stand while playing; the simple answer is that I
don't sound as good when I do. Occasionally I use double lip (for pppp
passages), and I often/always rest the bell on a knee or two to relieve the
weight of the instrument. I play better sitting down--sorry.

Harold Wright was of the same ilk. Of course, he used double lip all the
time. Now I know there are people who use double lip and stand--but there
are also people who make their living by having their body pierced,
swallowing swords and/or jumping out of cannons at the circus. I do not
care to be one of them.

Some folks argue that sound isn't everything--that the visual aspect of
performance requires the soloist to stand. These are typically the same
people the say that the soloist should always play from memory. In my
opinion, they're wrong.
