OK, as I anticipated, *loads* of creative and amusing responses to the
question.

So, what happened to *me* was, I went with the OAE to Vienna a few years
ago to record some Schubert Masses with the Vienna Boys Choir. (I have
to say in passing that this was a bit of a disappointment -- I had been
expecting from this famous group, in Vienna of all places, a deep
understanding of how vocal music sounds its best, using the word rhythms
to clarify the textures. Alas, not, though there were some striking
young soloists.)

We were staying in a very beautiful hotel in the countryside outside the
city, and when the recording was over for the day, we often went out to
eat, drink and make merry at one of the two little villages within
walking distance of the hotel.

At one of these, called Stein (either that or the other one, Krems, but
I think Stein), I happened to see a plaque on the outside of a house,
bearing the legend that this was the birthplace of Ludwig Koechel, who
had catalogued Mozart's music. And yes, it had a number.

8.

(If I remember correctly. It was after the meal;-)
