Naive Question? Is there a general opinion about
Finzi's Clarinet Concerto? It does not seem travel.
Comparisons are odious but it appears
to be quite unpopular outside Britain when compared
(to take a prime example) to the number of recordings of
the Copland Concerto outside the USA. I have to admit
that I have never attended a concert performance of either.

A German player rang asking me to provide him with a copy
of the Finzi as it was not available in Germany. I, in turn, rang the
Boosey and Hawkes shop in Regent Street, London
who, after a longish wait, said that it was out of stock!!!!!
We had to wait a month or so.

It would be shame-faced over-confidence to suppose British music
might be wanted anywhere else, BUT is it generally hard to get!?
Is it fair to conclude that the publishers are just not trying?
