You have no reason to apologize for your ignorance! You have a very good
question. Most of the good clarinetists I know now play Vandoren V-12 reeds,
usually #4 or #4 1/2. You should give them a try. You'll find they have a
little darker sound than the traditional (purple box) Vandorens.
