Hello Y'all,

A number of weeks ago I mentioned my stuffy B-flat on my R-13.
During a lesson last night my teacher discovered one of the
reasons for it. It was while we were going over Solo De Concours
that it was discovered. While I was going through the arpeggios
on the the Andante portion she noticed that my left shoulder
was lifting up. As she observed longer she realized that I was
shifting my wrist in an upward motion every time I went for the
B-flat. This caused my index finger to rest over the first whole
which affected the quality of the sound as well as the intonation.
This is something that I have apparently been doing for quite awhile
but I apparently exagerated it even more on Solo De Concours.
We corrected this faulty hand position and I will be doing exercises
to ensure that it will be permanently corrected.

The point is, that it is not always the Clarinet. One of the reasons
that I have not rushed out and had my Clarinet tweeked, is because
I have discovered that many of the problems, that I attribute to the Clarinet,
is actually rooted in something that I am not doing incorrectly. Such as, voicing,
air support, embouchure and hand position.

Just thought that it my be good info to be stored in the back of the mind.

PS. The more I learn, this less I know.
