Subj: [kl] Mr. Swiney's comments
Date: Thu, 27 May 1999 10:59:16 -0400

First off, everyone should relax. Nobody is going to hell for
endorsing/playing a certain clarinet. It's easy to see that Mr. Swiney is
just hoping to sell his products by trying to convince readers that
non-Moennig clarinets are crap. Why would he do this, since Mr. Moennig is
deceased? That's easy to figure out. Mr. Swiney was an apprentice to the
legend and he must know what Moennig did, right?
Mr. Swiney has - to my knowledge - not been on this list until recently.
The first post of his I read was Moennig related and offering a
service/product. All subsequent posts were regarding the same and filled
with "facts" of their greatness.
Arguments started to happen when listers disagreed, or gave conflicting
information regarding Mr. Swiney's comments.

Although I enjoy his posts, and find what he says fairly interesting, they
should be taken with a grain of salt. Tom Ridenour did the same thing a
little while back and created huge arguments. Mr. Swiney seems to be copping
the same attitude as the above and is trying to convert players to HIS
ideals. So Mr. Swiney, if someone disagrees with you or attacks your
"facts", don't get so defensive and just give an explanation. You will
eventually lose respect the more you show your hidden agendas and
closed-mindedness. By the way, don't assume everyone wants to sound like an
orchestra drone! :)
