The wood was cured longer. The post were threaded in the wooden body
and not pressed fitted with a set screw. The spring cradles were square in
shape and allow for closer hinge contact. The bore opening was concentric
with the outside diameter of the horn. The tone hole chimneys were smooth and
level especially on the Throat G and E tone holes. The springs were longer
and thinner and not shorter and thicker. The octave vents were acoustically
correct in design. There were no reamer or chatter marks in the bore or on
the pad seats.

Hi Alvin,

Is this above the difference between the Old and the New models?
I didn't really understand and I don't want make another language
understanding mistake and start a fire.
If it is the differences I would like to ask you some questions.
1) have you seen lately a new Buffet clarinet? you are talkink about the
spring tension beeing not good compared to the old model and I take this one
personnaly and I have to respond on behalf of the two technicians who are
working with me in Libertyville were we do the final set up of each
instruments. Tom Fritz and Steve Abbott are great, skilled technicians and I
am very fortunate to have them with me. They are doing an amazing job with
the set up of the instruments and let me tell you that more and more people
come in Libertyville to try out instruments before they buy it from the
dealers. I see Symphony players every week who tell me that the clarinet are
better and play easier than before. those professional players are true and
caring player who want the best for them or their students as every one of us
want when they are on the market for an instrument. I am talking about Buffet
because I know the instruments. For the part where you are talking about
artist endorsing instrumment just for money and they don't play the
instrument all the time I have to react also Leblanc,Selmer,Yamaha and the
other maker are making great instrument what ever reason make the player play
one of the brand instead of the other is based on the test of the players.I
know Mr Larry Comb, Stanley Ducker(who is playing on Buffet for over 50 years
now and who plays on a new one hemust not know they are not as good as the
old one :-) and many other artists I never refused to work on any brand of
instrument when I am on shows because to me a clarinet is a clarinet and I am
in this business to help musician succeed so I will be pay back with the
music they will play.I will not be hypocryte and of course I would like as
many players play on Buffet because I put a lot of work on the instruments am
I wrong when I want that? but I always respected the Musician for who he is
and not what he plays. To finish this long post again just take a look at new
Buffet and then let talk about it because so far nobody killed me for the
work I did. My bath tub almost did it but its not playing clarinet:-)

Musically Yours
