Rager,
In a properly moderated list, the following statement from Alvin would
have been rejected out of hand without concrete proof or at least
verifiable personal knowledge and disclosure:

The implication here is pretty heavy - that some of the players in these
great symphonies endorse for financial gain only. I want to know _who_
they are. In the case of Chicago, you've provided more names as
endorsees - I only know of 2 official ones . If any of the four in
Chicago endorse one but play regularly - not on an occasional gig - a
different clarinet, I think that we and the sponsor should know about
it, especially after a statement like this. I couldn't find J. Laurie
Bloom's or Greg Smith's name on the Buffet Artists' page
(http://www.boosey.com/mi/artists/buffetart.html) so I don't really know
if they are official endorsees - we're talking financial gain here. If I
remember correctly, I was told that Buffet artists get free clarinets
and service, but very little in the way of real money. I could have
been lied to, of course ...

I _am_ asking the question as posed above. Who is endorsing for
financial gain only?
