I had a parent call last week - of an incoming freshman minor who will be
studying with me. The girl played a professional horn for her audition
(borrowed from her teacher) and played great, but she only owns a Vito in
poor condition. When the parent called, he was all set to purchase a
Leblanc Model 45 (Noblet) for $900. I was very glad he called. Not only
did it give me the opportunity to get to know him and his daughter a
little bit better (prepare me for teaching her!), he learned a bit more
about clarinets, selecting clarinets, and how selection of a clarinet can
have an adverse affect with his daughter if done without considering the
school/teacher/instruments that are already in use at the particular
school.
Good advice from David (once again)
