Cindy --- are you kidding or does Ferree's sell such a thing ?

No, this wasn't a store-bought mixture. The tech explained that they often
get old clarinets that can't be fixed. They salvage what keywork, etc. they
can and then throw away most of the broken joints. They took some broken
joints & then ground them up and placed the shavings in a large air-tight
container and now use it for clarinets and other wooden instruments. The
sticky stuff they used was some type of a putty that was mixed with the
wood, I watched that much.

Sounds like there may be many solutions to this problem.

One ingredient is a reasonably-priced technician. I watched the job to the
point that the clarinet was set aside to dry. Couldn't have been 20 minutes,
at least 5 of which were spent looking for the drill bit which was "lost" on
the tech's workbench. Of course, there was a lot of experience in the recipe
too. $25 seemed fair to me for the end result.

"Probably the "hot glue grenadilla chip kit" offered by Ferree's.
