Leah,

Also make sure your reeds are balanced. One way to check for balance is to
turn the mouthpiece first to one side and then the other, (always keeping
your head straight). If one side is stuffier than the other, you would trim
the opposite side a little and try both sides again. You might also try
positioning the reed differently on the mouthpiece. Try several different
positions and see if any of them are better. The trick is to use very
minute adjustments. I don't know if I've explained this very well, but
maybe someone else on the list can clarify this for you.
