I first used Super Glue in 1966. After having multiple accidents
with this product, Here are a few suggestion to follow when using Superglue.
1. Before using Superglue always coat your finger tips with Vaseline
or
margarine. The oil base will keep the glue from sticking to your
fingers.
2. On the New bottle of Super Glue, coat the bottle thread with
Vaseline. Coat
the inside of the applicator tip with Vaseline. Coat the
inside of the
applicator cap with Vaseline. This will prevent the Super Glue
from clogging the Applicator tip after use. Believe it or
not, the Vaseline inside the tip
will not affect the adhesion properties of the Glue.
3. After using the glue, hold the tube upright and slightly thump the
applicator.
This will force the glue out of the applicator tip and leave only
air in the tip.
This thumping technique is also used by doctors to remove air
from
Hypodermic needles.
4. If thumping does not clear the applicator tip, try tapping the
bottle on a table
top in upright position.
5. Always store the Super Glue tube in and upright position. This
will keep the
glue in the bottle and not the applicator tip. When you get ready
to use the
glue again, you won't have to waste it by squeezing so hard in
order to
unclog the tip
By using this simple tips, I can get 100 uses out of a single bottle
of Super
Glue. I have used the same bottle of glue for the last six months without
one single clogged tip. Vaseline also works well on the tops of paint cans,
contact cement cans and the exterior threads of fruit and jelly jars.
Good
Luck,

<< At most hobby or hardware shops you can buy superglue remover. I think it
is
based on acetone. It desolves superglue very quickly but also is very
volatile and leaves the glue behind, so you have to work quickly. I keep it
handy to unstick my fingers....
