dci muisc has a new reduced orchestration of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.
All important solo passages stay on the original instruments.

The orchestration is
1*1*2*1/2210/T+1/harp/celeste/strings.

They will provice a perusal tape for free. The music is rental. For

I don't know of the quality of this arrangement, so if you do end up
performing this, I would be interested in your reaction.

While the full instrumentation is always preferable, live music is always
preferable to recorded with ballet. I know from first-hand experience
that the dancers always prefer dancing to live music. Because orchestras
are the largest single expense for ballet companies sometimes they are
forced to choose ballets with smaller orchestrations.
