There are some questions at the end of this message so don't delete it
until you read those (I have a feeling that that's what some list
members do, unless i put them first!)

Well, i have just finished reading "Clarinet Acoustics" by O. Lee
Gibson, it is an excellent book except for a couple of small things.
One if you don't know anything about musical acoustics, find out! It
gets right into it without any hesitation to explain much what the terms
mean, not a fault, just requires some extra work. The second thing is
that it would benefit IMMENSLY from just 1 or 2 diagrams, the entire
book made it through with detailed, confusing, and complicated
explanations of what a diagram might look like, not a single one
appeared in the book (fortunately there WERE several tables).

Now, I have to summarize it for my Calculus final. I will be using
parts of this book as well as a few articles I have found, some
information from "Acoustical Aspects of Woodwind Instruments" by C.J.
Nederveen, some other information from other books on music acoustics,
as well as information from Brymer's "Clarinet."

Now, here are a couple of questions. Gibson mentions "modal frequency
ratios", can someone explain what this concept means?

Also as I continue to move through the book to summarize each part I
will have many additional questions, thanks to anyone who decides to
help me.

Also for my presentation (which must be 20 minutes or more!!!), I would
like to use some photographs, Brymer's book is a very large resoure that
illustrates many mechanisms, if somene else knows another one like this
please let me know.

Thank you very much,
Mark
