Anecdotal story.

When I switched from a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece (medium open) to a Vandoren
5RV mouthpiece (medium closed), I found that the Rovner no longer worked for
me. It dampened the reed vibrations enough for me that the reed response
was very sluggish. Until I decide just exactly what I do want on this
mouthpiece, I am using a plastic Luyben that I had lying around the house.
It actually works very well on the new mouthpiece.

Of course, others may have different experiences.
