Bill H.,
I'm a bit confused. Leblanc had Tom Ridenour redesign their line, and
ended up with the Opus/Concerto. Now, the clarinets were redesigned by
Tom to produce, for one thing, a more even scale. That implies that the
older models other have a less even scale.

They also charge more for their "fixed" models than they do for the
older designs. Now, why is the venom reserved for Buffet? Leblanc did
exactly the same thing - offering "new, improved" models for a higher
price. They're still doing it with their "new, improved" Symphonie VII -
it's advertised as being better than the Opus.

I personally take all the advertising hype with great big blocks of
salt. When I need or want (I'll probably want way before I need!) a new
clarinet I'll buy the best one I can afford that suits me.

Leblanc nor Buffet at the moment.
