I have to complement Bill Edinger for unusual perceptiveness. Based upon
my views on blowout, he was able to determine that I am a Christian
Fundamentalist with Creationist beliefs. All of this without ever having
met me, or discussing religion with me. With such a lack of objective
evidence, I'm wondering the methodology by which you reached this
conclusion. Was it via divining rod, or was it simple prophesy? :-)
Now that I've hopefully gotten you to smile a bit, please re-read my
original post. What I wrote was not nearly as extreme as you make it out
to be. My point is that if an instrument is no longer allowing me to
produce as I need, it doesn't matter to me that science may not have
come up with a way to measure the problem yet. Scientists are bright;
they'll come up with a way to measure it eventually. Maybe they already
have. In the meantime, I have a job to do, and I can't wait around to
find out why the changes I've observed have occurred. If I observe
something, and my boss (the conductor) observes something, then I'll do
whatever is necessary to keep my playing at the highest possible level.
You can call it unscientific black magic if you'd like, but as a
non-scientist, I have to rely upon what works in my orchestra, in the
hall that we play in.
BTW: how many professional scientists do we have on this list? I know
that we have Dr. Cindy Field. Any others?
Chris
