It sounds as if you feel a Festival A clarinet is closer to the correct
dimensions than the regular R-13.

I bought my son a new Festival A clarinet for $2250 2 years ago. That's
approx. $250 more than a new standard R-13 A clarinet. Francois Kloc of
Buffet worked on the A and did some undercutting/bore reaming and
changed out the register tube for free to help with a bit of stuffiness
in the A (and also worked on his Festival Bb at the same time, doing
some undercutting and replacing the upper joint pads with cork - but
we're talking A clarinets here). Francois didn't know me from a hole in
the ground at that time, either. He just did it because my son thought
the A could be better and I asked if someone at Buffet could help.

Including the silver plating and additional key, how much would you
charge for your work on a standard R-13 clarinet? More than the $250
differential we paid for the Festival?

I don't feel the extra $200 or $300 is
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Just $$ or maybe $$$.
