Customize: to build, fit, or alter according to individual specifications

Custom-made: made to individual specifactions.

Custom-Tailor: to alter, plan, or build according to individual
specifications or needs.

These are standard definitions of the word you disagree with. I understand
what you are saying, but your terminology is not being defined for all of
us. Using Webster's definitions, the work Moennig did was customization.

Let's take it a step further. Go to the bookstore and pick up a copy of
Hemming Motor News. You will read about 1941 vehicles that have been
"customized". What does this mean? Taking 4-6" off the top and lowering
it all down, redesigning the front end, or grill, or rear. Unusual paint
jobs. Putting a different engine or mechanical mechanism under the hood.
Adding air conditioning, power steering, modernizing in any way.

Frankly, I don't see what you don't understand about the word customization.
