Thanks very much for all this great input back on my tone
questions... (especially to Roger - extremely helpful!) And to Fred, sorry
to generalize so much when I said "isn't [dark tone] every clarinetist's
goal?" For me, I feel that a dark sound does not necessarily connotate
"dull," but rather focused and round. It is possible to make a dark sound
exciting, isn't it? :-) But you were right on when you stated that I was
trying to reduce the upper level frequencies - that's exactly what I am
trying to do.
