Well that seems just a little condescending to me, but...

British clarinetists gave me my first clue that there might be more than
one tone that could be made with - what did Lelia call it? - the
Screech-Stick Devil?

Among my favorites - DePeyer's Weber Concerto #2/Spohr Concerto #1 with
Colin Davis, and his "Quartet for the End of Time" with Melos Ensemble,
where I discovered that a clarinet could actually blend with string
instruments, and that every note in every piece was *NOT* a clarinet solo!
