One of the biggest problems (IMO) is that we don't get to be out in the hall
when we're making these beautiful sounds in the pit. What we hear through our
teeth and into our skulls is not what is heard three-quarters back.

Subjective vs. objective.

Personally, I want the tone clear. Some consider my tone bright. I still get
hired for those musicals.

When arranging speaker boxes in my living room, one of the great concerns for
sound is to have them off the floor, above the carpet, because the higher
sounds and overtones are eaten up by the carpet and other soft materials.

Who needs a ligature that caps and dampens the higher partials? Are such
players playing just for themselves or for a mouse in their pocket?
