I used to study with Pete's widow, Aline Benoit. She's been working on the book for several years now and it finally got clearance from the publisher last summer and she hopes that it will be out by next year.
I see that there are a few of Pete's students out there and they might remember how poorly written (grammatically speaking) the book is, despite how wonderful the content is. It has gone through several revisions and Aline has been very scrupulous about maintaining Pete's "voice" throughout the extensive revisions.
It's going to be a wonderful book. It surveys all aspects of clarinet playing. The excerpts and commentary are invaluable. The book's written in a very personal, almost conversational, style, so it's a very easy and not-at-all dry read. If I hear any more, I'll let you guys know.
