The basset clarinet in A is basically an A clarinet with extended low range
to C (3 additional notes). As such it is suitable for all the standard A
clarinet literature.

That said, however, it has some characteristics that may cause one to pause
when considering this approach. Being longer it appears to have more
resistance and there appear to be additional intonation problems. I am
going through this now and expect to make a final decision Friday while at
International Musical Suppliers. I'll let you know my decision.
