I have not looked at the price of one for several years and the
fact that they are not made in B-flat caused me to reject the
purchase of a pair of them as my regular orchestral clarinets
prior to my retirement. But the A basset clarinet can be bought
off the shelf. Its a stock item.

With any new instrument, one must be careful that all the bugs
are out and that one gets one with good intonation. I believe
that some of the early models had problems. I'd be very
hesitant to buy one without a serious opportunity to try it.

They are probably upwards of $3500-$4000 but I am not really certain
of this not having seen a catalog recently. But even at that price,
I would have bought a pair of them in a minute. They are tax
deductible of course, being a musical instrument whereby one gets
income.
