I must say, I read this with a bit of a chuckle... I was a student of
Hadcock when he died. He had a book of standard orchestral excerpts (plus a
couple e-flat ones that didn't make it into published book because of
copyright problems) that he gave to all of the students at Eastman. We
would use this book at studio class to practice and learn excerpts. They
had extensive explanations along with cool fingerings for most big excerpts.
Beethoven, Brahms, Bartok, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, etc... were hit in
this book. (There are about 20-30 excerpts total)

I say this with a chuckle because it was supposedly going to be published
right after he died back in October of 1993 (or at least within a year or
so...). If it actually makes it to print, I will be amazed. I sincerelly
hope it does, because it is almost certainly the best instructional excerpt
book ever written.
