Hi my name is Hannah Zoller, and I'm in 8th grade. My sister is going
into performing oboe, and i'm thinking about performance too, already.
After hearing everything from my sister, and what you said, it's sort of
discouraging. I love playing the clarinet. I have been the top
clarinetist in my school every year, but I still don't think I have a
chance, even if i practice my butt off in high school. I've played with
high school students already, and I do fine with them. My sister thinks
I'm better than most in the high school, but still, there are a lot of
clarinetists looking for a performance degree. I love playing, and I
take every chance I can to play with a group, and to learn and expand my
knowledge, but it's still discouraging. I don't know if I should really
think about it or not. I love music, I love playing and learning how to
play better, but I don't know if I have a chance in the "real world."
I'm also interested in physical/occupational therapy, and I don't know
if it would be better to concentrate on that instead. Help!
