Out of curiousity, has anyone got any stats that sort of thing? I've
noticed that quite a few of the coders I meet also turn out to be musicians.
This didn't seem too weird back in high school, since 40-50% of the school was
involved in the music program, having friends who could program computers
and play an instrument or two wasn't too unusual. But I've been told a few
times since that music and coding ability tend to come in the same
package.
Incidentally, I was asked what instrument I played during my last job
interview -- an interview for a purely tech position doing coding and minor
network administration. I think he was just trying to make conversation,
but I'd never had anyone ask about the community band involvement that's
listed on my resume!
