I've read portions of Pete Hadcock's book and the one that will be published in the near future. My impression is that Pete was always scrupulous about markings in the score, always being very faithful to the composer's instruction. The only instance he suggested otherwise was in Brahms #3 where he felt that there wasn't enough time to switch to the A in the beginning of the 1st movement.
