I would only change to Performance if you really, truly enjoy playing. If
you are bored in the Wind Ensemble or Orchestra, just think that as a
performance major that is what the rest of your life will be like. I
switched because I am not really a people person and I could stand to play my
clarinet 24 hours a day. My teacher told me that if you are going to be a
performance major just remember that only 3% of them actually end up playing
for a living, so practice the hell out of the clarinet.
