I've come to the collective wisdom of the group to figure out what a
composer friend is asking for. He was wondering what needs to be done
(as far as scoring) to get a piccolo trumpet sound from a clarinet. He
said he heard it on a Peter Schickele broadcast. Anyone have any idea
what piece of music he is talking about and/or the technique involved?
Without knowing, I could only guess either that it was an Eb clarinet he
was hearing (sort of relates to the timbre thread) or that there was a
throat/embouchure thing involved, but if anyone heard the broadcast and
and can give more specifics, or has a better guess, I'd appreciate the
information.
