About 35 years ago, the Leblanc company issued quite a few tracts or
monographs on the subject of instrumentation. They included recommended
choices of instruments for the wind band of various sizes and the clarinet
choir. Naturally, they always recommended the inclusion of the Ab
sopranino clarinet. Since they were the only manufacturer of that
particular instrument at the time, their advertising ploy was rather
transparent.

Now, so many years later, I'm having trouble remembering the name of the
person who wrote those little dissertations? Was it Lucien Calliet? What
were his qualifications in this area?
