You are correct. I found Markneukirchen on the Internet with references to many instrument makers active to day. Although no Moennig is currently among them, a A. Moennig born in Markneukirchen emigrated to Hungary early in the 19th century to become a known violin-maker there. I appreciate your information - the embossing on the instrument was incomplete.
