Yesterday I picked up my copy of Hadcock's orchestral excerpts for the
Eb clarinet (great book!), and he states that he has transposed the
entire part from Till Eulenspiegel. He didn't go any further, but this
suggests it was originally written for a clarinet in a key other than
Eb. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
