Gary Van Cott asked:

<<<What percentage of the work in the general orchestral repertoire has
parts for Eb clarinet or bass clarinet and how does that compare to other
less used instruments like contra-bassoon?>>>

I am certain that there are more parts for Eb. Peter Hadcock edited a
superb excerpt book for Eb (with a FANTASTIC fingering chart)--I don't think
there is enough for a contrabassoon excerpt book.

I'll add another twist. I now own a clarinet in the key of C. I know that
it's called for in early Beethoven and late Mahler--any idea how much use
I'll get out of it?
