Another thing you can do is to experiment. You can taper a barrel by
carefully painting the inside with nail varnish. (You have to develop a
technique.)

Such a procedure seems not to change the 'nature' of the barrel very
much. But it can improve, or unfortunately make less satisfactory, an
existing barrel.

However, the process is reversible.

You can of course use a reamer, if you want a larger tapered bore.
(This procedure is less reversible:-)
